Wilmington, North Carolina’s oldest senior living community needed to transform itself for a new generation of residents. The concept that emerged was not just to create a new community, but a destination for the surrounding neighborhood. The community now features IL residences – in the form of cottages and apartments – along with a world-class community and fitness center that residents share with the greater Wilmington neighborhood.

Overview
The Promenade, the wellness and community center, is at the heart of the campus, consisting of fitness facilities, an Olympic-sized pool, a salon/spa, event spaces, an upscale restaurant, and a more casual, grab-n-go cafe.
The four-story, 141-unit IL apartment building, The Residences, is connected to the rest of the community with expansive green spaces. It also contains numerous amenities, including dining rooms and a bar, a theater, an art room, a club room, and multiple outdoor and indoor socialization spaces.
32 IL Cottages along the west side of the property act as a mini-neighborhood with beach house charm, open floor plans, and refined finishes, each with ease-of-access to the community’s amenities.
